What is a para-substituted phenol?

A para-substituted phenol is a phenol molecule in which one or more substituent groups are attached to the para position of the phenol ring. The para position is the location on the phenol ring that is directly across from the hydroxyl (OH) group. In other words, the substituent groups are located at the fourth and fifth positions on the phenol ring. These substituents can be any type of chemical group, such as alkyl, halogen, or nitrile groups, and they can affect the properties and reactivity of the phenol molecule.
